Nassau County Sheriff’s Office launches program to provide qualified inmates with IDs

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. — Nassau County Sheriff’s Department has recently launched a program to help qualified inmates obtain identification cards. This initiative, funded by inmate welfare funds, has allowed for the second round of ID assistance for inmates.

Yesterday, a few qualified inmates were escorted to the DMV by the Sheriff’s department to get their identification cards. Among these inmates was Michael, who expressed his gratitude towards the program.

Michael had been living a desolate life for the past few years, and he found himself in jail for using someone else’s ID. However, obtaining his own ID has given him renewed hope and the drive to rebuild his life.

“I just want to say thank you for helping me get an ID today. I haven’t had one in a couple of years. In fact, I’m in jail for using someone else’s ID,” Michael said. “Just seeing that ID today made me realize how desolate my life has become, and it renewed my drive to rebuild my life anew. So, thank you very much! I never thought I’d say anything remotely close to this, but coming to the Nassau County Jail has turned out to be a blessing in disguise.”

The Sheriff’s department was elated to hear about Michael’s progress and his renewed drive to rebuild his life. This initiative aims to help inmates reintegrate into society by giving them the tools they need to succeed.
