A Clay County grand jury indicted a Middleburg couple in the Dec. 2015 murder of Corey Lane.
Joseph White and Bobbi White were each indicted on charges of Murder in the First Degree, Armed Robbery, Armed Burglary With Assault or Battery, Second Degree Arson and Possession of Heroin.
The couple each pleaded not guilty on January to the death of Lane, a known acquaintance, and then torching a van with his body. Police say Lane went to the White’s Middleburg home in December for a doctor’s appointment. According to the sheriff’s office, that’s where the couple killed Lane and then torched his van with his body inside, dumping both in Jennings Forest.
Joseph and Bobbi White are divorced but were living together at the time of the incident.
Detectives said in January that they are looking into the couple’s criminal past to figure out a possible motive. The sheriff’s office said they have a history of drug offenses.
