Sage Chrzanoski (Nassau Sheriff's Office)

Jacksonville — Two men are facing charges for smashing up a brand new hotel in Fernandina Beach, causing up to a half-million dollars in damage.  Deputies say Rafael Charriez and Sage Chrzanoski broke into the Hilton Home 2 Suites hotel on Sadler Road early Wednesday morning and set off an alarm.

Deputies say they busted up 33 rooms in the hotel, which was slated to open soon.  They say the pair sprayed a fire extinguisher’s white powder throughout the building, and blood was even found on some items that were damaged.

There was enormous amounts of damage inside the hotel, primarily on the 3rd and 4th floor, where televisions were ripped from their stands, shower glass doors were shattered along with microwave ovens, mirrors and numerous other windows throughout the building.

Deputies say mattresses, refrigerators, lamps, tables and chairs were thrown through some of the broken windows.

Hotel representatives estimated the damage to be between $300,000.00 and $500,000.00.
