If there’s a lucky winner in Friday’s drawing, they can choose between receiving the $825 million in annual payments for 30 years, or a lump sum cash payout of $382 million. Most winners always take the cash option.
The Mega Millions odds are 1 in 302.6 million. Winners can choose an annuity with annual payments over 29 years, but most almost always take the cash option.
