Jacksonville, FL — The amount of Northeast Florida resources heading to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey continues to rise.
The Mayport-based Coast Guard Cutter Maria Bray has deployed to help hurricane operations. Commanding Officer Chief Warrant Officer Michael Tomasi says they will perform a number of missions, including opening shipping lanes, conducting search and rescue, and transporting humanitarian supplies.
Florida has already sent other Coast Guard resources, as well as Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers and equipment.
From the Jacksonville area, the Salvation Army has sent a mobile canteen and the Red Cross has an emergency response vehicle en route.
