Man provides false name, claims to be hearing impaired during St. Johns County traffic stop

Jacksonville, FL — A man caught on police radar speeding on a St. Johns County beach, finds himself under arrest.

According to the offense report obtained by WOKV, Daniel Piantino, 31, is charged with knowingly driving with a license that's either suspended or revoked and with giving a false ID to law enforcement.

The report states that when Piantino was pulled over for speeding on Sunday on the beach, just south of Dondanville Road, he claimed to be hearing impaired, so deputies communicated with him via handwritten notes.

In those notes, Piantino reportedly identified himself under a false name-- Daniel Lee Hillsheim--- and also provided a false date of birth.

After not being able to find anyone with that name and date of birth in any database, deputies began to take Piantino into custody, when they found a Wisconsin ID.

Using that ID, deputies say they were able to discover Piantino's real identity and the fact that his Wisconsin driver license is suspended. Additionally, deputies say Piantino had a confirmed warrant for probation violation.

Piantino was subsequently arrested. It was later determined that Piantino is, in fact, not hearing impaired.
