CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida National Guard says one of their service members is dead after being hit by a driver on the Camp Blanding Military Base Friday morning.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, the 38-year-old man from Keystone Heights was walking eastbound on Avenue B just before 7 a.m. when he was hit by a Jeep travelling in the same direction.
He landed on the right shoulder of the road and was pronounced dead on scene.

The driver was not hurt and stayed after the collision.
