Jacksonville, FL — A Jacksonville man has been arrested for DUI with property damage, after allegedly side-swiping a St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office patrol car that was on the scene of another crash.
27-year-old Dominic Greggs is being held on a $2500 bond.
The string of events late Sunday started on I-95 northbound near SR 206. Three vehicles were involved in a crash, which included one vehicle rolled over and two people trapped. Luckily, the injuries were not life-threatening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
SJSO was assisting FHP in closing two lanes of the highway to accommodate the crash response and investigation. A driver- now identified as Greggs- then side-swiped a parked SJSO patrol car that had emergency lights on at the scene, according to the crash report. The deputy was not inside the vehicle at the time.
The FHP crash report says both SJSO and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office had received 911 calls prior to this incident describing a reckless driver heading north on I-95, who allegedly could not maintain a lane. Concerned citizens also reported that the driver may have been impaired. FHP believes that driver is Greggs, the same person who was involved in this side-swipe incident.
The FHP arrest report says Greggs had bloodshot, watery, glassy eyes with dilated pupils. The arrest report says he agreed to do a field sobriety test, during which he failed to follow instructions, frequently lost balance, and other issues. FHP says Greggs refused to give a urine sample for testing.
The crash report says Greggs was not hurt in the crash. He has also been cited for careless driving.
