The traffic shift on 95 northbound was off to a rough start on Monday. One of the travel lanes had to be shut for repairs through the late afternoon, causing delays for most of the day.
The Florida Department of Transportation says asphalt laid down Sunday night started to come loose.
“And that’s what we worked on around the clock,” says spokesman Ron Tittle.
Tittle says they expect to lay down new asphalt on all three of the lanes by Tuesday morning to make sure the problem doesn’t repeat.
“We certainly anticipate having all lanes open tomorrow,” Tittle said Monday night. “I don’t anticipate any problems in the morning.”
The new travel lanes on 95 northbound are meant to shift traffic while FDOT demolishes the old 95 structure and builds the new one.
“They already started tearing up that concrete today,” Tittle says.
