Heart & SoulFood Chef Tyrone Bennett and his wife, Lateefa, are the purveyors of Heart & SoulFood Truck and their food is so popular, they are opening a store front in front of the downtown Palatka.
Savory turkey wings and butterbeans, fried catfish, melt-in-your mouth ribs, and Southern sides like sweet candy yams and smoky collard greens – when you’re looking for Soul Food in North Florida, look no further than Chef Tyrone Bennett and his Heart & SoulFood brand. Over the past few years, Chef Bennett and his wife Lateefa have made a name for themselves with their Heart & SoulFood Truck – regularly appearing at music festivals, farmers markets, private events, and breweries around Northeast Florida.
The Bennett’s are hoping that the good will they’ve collected over the years will help them on the next leg of their journey – opening a brick-and-mortar location, Heart & SoulFood Eatery, located at 308 St. Johns Avenue in downtown Palatka.
“Since I was 12, I knew that I wanted to be a chef,” explains Chef Bennett, who earned a culinary degree from Johnson & Wales University and is also the founder of We Feed St. Augustine, a nonprofit that delivers hot meals to those in need. “Lateefa and I have built a successful food truck and we have proven that we’re 100 percent committed to this community. We’re asking for the community to help us realize our dream of bringing unique and unexpected dishes in Southern, Latin, and Caribbean comfort food to the North Florida area. Everything we do, we do with love and passion. We’re excited to bring that same love and passion to our new eatery in downtown Palatka.”
