Jacksonville — Winn-Dixie partnered with Tony the Tiger® and Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes® Mission Tiger to donate $31,742 to Jean Ribault Middle School in Jacksonville.
Since 2019, Tony the Tiger and Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes have embarked on a mission to give more students access to the benefits of sports with the launch of Mission Tiger, an initiative to help save middle schools sports. Now, Winn-Dixie and Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes are joining forces to bring the mission to their shared communities by helping to grant several DonorsChoose wishes throughout the Southeast, including Jean Ribault Middle School in Jacksonville.
The donation was jointly presented by representatives from both companies to Jean Ribault Middle Schools’ leadership and educators at the school’s temporary location, A. Philip Randolph Career Academies, during a breakfast for the students on today at 9 a.m. The breakfast presentation included meals for the students, speaking remarks, photos with iconic Tony the Tiger and attending students received a free children’s book from Kellogg’s Feeding Reading program. Additional speakers included Duval County Public Schools leadership, Superintendent Dr. Dana Kriznar and District Athletic Director Tammie Talley.
Physical education and extracurricular athletics programs play a pivotal role in shaping students’ character, instilling discipline, teamwork and resilience. Through this collaboration, Winn-Dixie and Kellogg’s will present more than $82,000 to school athletics programs throughout the Southeast to provide access to the resources educators and students need to thrive.
