“Lavender Doe” identified as Jacksonville woman

Jacksonville, FL — Remains found in Texas in 2006 have now been identified as a woman last known to live in Jacksonville.

The DNA Doe Project says the remains were found under a burning wood pile, and the death was ruled a murder. The victim was nicknamed “Lavender Doe”, because she was wearing a lavender sweater at the time. Because of the state of her remains, the victim could not immediately be identified.

The Gregg County Sheriff’s Office now confirms the victim is Dana Lynn Dodd, who was last known to be living in Jacksonville, Florida. GCSO says Joseph Burnette is already on trial for the murder of Dodd and of another woman.
