The Jacksonville Transportation Authority will adjust some bus routes starting Monday to address certain needs during peak hours.

Back on March 16, JTA made several changes to route times and frequencies due to the coronavirus outbreak. JTA Spokesman David Cawton says feedback from the community led them to make the latest changes.

“We see that some folks are starting to get back to work, and we understand that through our research, these are the routes that we are seeing some crowding and just needing to increase that frequency,” Cawton says.

He says the changes will come to Routes 1, 3, 10, 19, 50 and the First Coast Flyer Red Line. Those routes service North Main Street, Moncrief Road, Atlantic Boulevard, Arlington and University Boulevard.

Cawton says they’re also adding additional “plug” buses to help with bus frequency.

“We have additional bus drivers and buses that essentially are prepared to hop and a route when needed,” Cawton says.

When a driver is on a route and bus capacity is reached, Cawton says the driver notifies dispatch so they can send another bus on the route.

Any customers with concerns or questions can reach out to JTA by calling (904) 630-3100 or by emailing customer-svc@jtafla.com.
