The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

The crash is being investigated, but officials don’t believe speed was a factor.

The officer has been put on administrative leave for “possible counseling,” according to JSO.

According to JSO, this is the 157th traffic fatality this year and the 43rd involving a pedestrian.
