A 10 year JSO veteran is turning in her badge after she admitted to investigators she had been secretly recording conversations with other JSO employees.
40-year-old Hazel Moore faces felony charges of illegally interception of communications and tampering with evidence. She has been with JSO since 2003.
Undersheriff Dwain Senterfitt says they received information that Moore had been recording conversations between herself and three other JSO employees without their knowledge. She then went back and tried to delete the conversation, which the IT department discovered after a sergeant had a hunch about what Moore was doing and reported the suspicious activity.
Senterfitt says there was conflict between Moore and her sergeant and that she believed the sergeant was picking on her. Moore has chosen to go on voluntary leave without pay and will stay on leave until the internal investigation concludes.
Moore did have one previous incident that led to a suspension.
