Jacksonville — Police are investigating what caused a JSO officer to lose control of his cruiser and crash into a tree.  The crash happened off of Wilson Blvd and Fouraker road just before 7:30 a.m., just off the driveway that leads to a church.  A JSO sergeant said the unidentified officer was finishing paperwork in the church parkinglot when he was called to be backup in an ongoing police chase that was happening near-by on 103rd street.  While driving on the driveway, the officer lost control and smashed his cruiser into a tree.

The officer was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
