JSO: Missing child found deceased

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the death of a missing special-needs child.

JSO states that at approximately 2:00 p.m., patrol officers were called to the 400 block of Dennard Avenue regarding the missing child. Officers began to search the scene.

After a short time, the child was found unresponsive in a nearby retention pond. JFRD was called to the scene, however they were unable to revive the child.

The Homicide and Crime Scene Unit also responded to the scene, where they are classifying this as an ongoing and continuous investigation.

JSO also stated that they are working with the Medical Examiner’s Office and the Florida Department of Children and Families (FDCF).
