JSO: Jacksonville man arrested, charged for January murder and separate double shooting

James Antonio Hunter has been arrested for the murder of Sierra McKenzie and a separate double shooting, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — James Antonio Hunter has been arrested for the murder of Sierra McKenzie and a separate double shooting, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

On Jan. 23, officers found 33-year-old McKenzie’s body in a pool of blood on the sidewalk of College Circle South. She died of a gunshot wound.

Hunter was found to be connected to the murder based on collected evidence. He was also linked to other crimes, according to JSO.

Hunter was found to be the suspect in a double shooting that happened four days after McKenzie’s murder. JSO says Hunter shot two people in the head during a home invasion on Main Street.

Both victims survived.

Earlier in February, the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force took Hunter into custody for two outstanding arrest warrants.

Hunter is now facing multiple charges, including murder and attempted murder.

He is currently being held in the Duval County Jail.
