Jacksonville, FL — A Jacksonville homeowner stopped a burglar in his tracks by tackling him to the ground and then holding him there until police arrived, according to a report from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Last Sunday, the homeowner told police that he was sitting in his living room with his wife and two children when he heard his front door slam against the wall and then saw a man walk inside.
The JSO report says the homeowner ran towards the suspect and noticed he was carrying a knife.
JSO says a fight broke out between the two men until the homeowner managed to tackle and pin the suspect to the ground until police arrived at the front door.
Upon arrest, officers said the suspect, who JSO later identified as 30-year-old Matthew Seedorf, became increasingly violent and resistant in the back seat of the patrol car.
Seedorf is facing charges for armed burglary, committing an assault, and resisting an officer with violence, according to the arrest report from JSO.
