The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a child.
We’re told the child was transported from Waterleaf Elementary School to a local hospital, and later died. At this point, the circumstances around the death have not been determined, but JSO says no foul play is suspected. The investigation will be ongoing until the Medical Examiner determines an exact cause of death.
A statement from the Duval County School District says the death “may have been due to an apparent medical condition”. The District plans to have school psychologists and social workers at the school for both students and faculty. The statement further says the school and District will work closely and cooperate fully with JSO.
