Jacksonville, FL — After a deadly police-involved shooting Monday night, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is releasing new information about what exactly happened.
According to JSO, the suspect, now identified as Robert Bracewell, Jr., 20, attempted to rob a 14-year-old girl who was sitting in her mother's car in the parking lot of her residence.

Police say she had no money, so he stole the car she was in, with her still in it. He then drove about a mile, before pushing her out of the car and driving off again.
Police worked with On-Star to find the vehicle, which they tracked down about 40 minutes later, at the intersection of San Juan and Lane Avenue.
Two officers blocked the stolen car in with their marked vehicles, causing the suspect to get out of the car.

JSO says he had a gun in his hand and didn't comply with demands to drop the weapon.
When he turned toward an officer with the gun still in his hand, JSO says both officers opened fire, shooting a combined 17 times.

Bracewell later died at the hospital; police say he didn't fire a single shot.
We're told Bracewell was a convicted felon, who most recently did time on convictions for armed burglary, possession of a firearm by a delinquent felon, and violating his probation.
As for the officers involved, one has been with the sheriff's office for 2 years and 9 months, while the other has been with the force for 3 years and 7 months.
JSO says its the first officer-involved shooting for both officers. They've since been placed on administrative leave, as the investigation into the shooting in ongoing.
