JSO: Former NFL, UF football player arrested following domestic incident

Jacksonville, FL — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has arrested Derrick Jabar Gaffney, a former NFL and UF player, who previously attended Raines High School, after a domestic incident involving his live-in girlfriend.

According to the arrest report, Gaffney and the woman got into an argument Tuesday morning, when she says he got 'really mad.'

She tells police  during the argument, Gaffney took his middle and index fingers and poked her on the forehead, stating she should be 'glad she doesn't have a black eye.'

The report says he then left the home and returned while she was on the phone with police. He then left the home again, after allegedly yelling out “Good luck in court."

The victim told police this is an ongoing issue and that physical violence has occurred on multiple occasions, though it hasn’t been reported to police.

The report states Gaffney has been completely cooperative with investigators, but continually states he did not touch her.

He now faces a battery charge, resulting in a minor injury.
