JSO: 1 in life-threatening condition after shooting on Jacksonville’s Westside

JACKSONILLE, Fla. — A 26-year-old man is in life-threatening condition after he was shot following an altercation Friday morning, according to Jacksonville police.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened at a home in the 5500 block of Smithtorian Drive off 103rd Street.

Just before 8:30 a.m., officers were called to Village Pond Circle, where the man ran off to following the shooting.

JSO found him suffering from gunshot wounds and rescue personnel were called out to take him to a local hospital.

Several witnesses and a person of interest have been detained, JSO said during a news conference.

Officers are seeking a search warrant for the home and are canvassing the area for additional witnesses or video that could help with the case.
