Jacksonville, FL — The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is investigating what appears to be an attempted murder-suicide.
According to the sheriff's office, they received a call from a man who claimed that a woman told him, that she planned to harm someone else and then harm herself. At this time, we're told the location for this alleged event was unknown.
Deputies say after getting the call, they conducted a database search for this woman, which revealed several possible addresses. We're told that deputies were sent to each of these locations, eventually finding an elderly woman sitting in a car in one of the driveways.
Deputies say they tried to order her out of the car, but she did not comply. Deputies then approached the car and discovered the woman had sustained apparent self-inflicted injuries. The sheriff’s office initially believed the injuries were from a gunshot, but later said the injuries were from stabbing/cutting. Despite her injuries, we're told the woman was still alive and taken to the hospital.
From there, deputies then entered the home on Oxford Drive in St. Augustine, where they found an elderly man dead inside.
The sheriff's office says while the investigation is ongoing, there is no current evidence that anyone else was involved.
