John Stockton Elementary School assistant principal arrested

Jamall Collins (JSO)

Jacksonville, FL — John Stockton Elementary School assistant principal Jamall Collins has been arrested on two counts of grand theft.

The arrest report shows Stockton allegedly used the bank information of a local business to pay his rent and an insurance premium, after that business had given him a check as a donation to John Stockton Elementary.

That business says they regularly donate to the school, and while they normally leave the check with the principal, they recently left one with Collins, because the principal was in a meeting. A witness who works at the school told police that she told Collins the checks are put in the “Friends of Stockton” box, but he responded that he thought he was supposed to hold it and left the office with the check- which had account and routing numbers on it- still in hand. The business says their subsequent bank statement showed a $525 insurance premium payment for Jamall Collins and a $1,312 rent payment for the apartment complex where Collins lives.

Collins’ arrest report shows that he did speak with investigators, but his comments have been redacted.

Collins was arrested Thursday, after being reassigned to a District level assignment November 30th, as the investigation took place. Superintendent Dr. Diana Greene says she intends to pursue Collins’ termination.

DCPS says Collins started with the District as a teacher in August 2017, and was appointed as assistant principal August 6th.

Parents of children at the school have been notified about the arrest via automated call.
