Jacksonville, FL — About half a day after JEA warned about potential impersonators that could try to harm you, they’re now calling those reports rumors.
In the early evening Sunday, JEA reported that one or more people are falsely claiming to be JEA employees. That person or people may be attempting to do harm or threaten you, according to JEA.
Monday morning, JEA said these reports were false rumors.
JEA says all employees are required to wear proper identification. They’re urging you to always use caution when you’re approached by a stranger.
There is a similar impersonator scam that’s been reported in Central Florida as well.
