JACKSINVILLE, Fla. — JEA is urging customers to be aware of scammers posing as JEA representatives threatening to disconnect services if payment is not made within 30 minutes.

The utility company is warning customers to avoid calls conducted after hours with a prefix number of 665 - JEA - made through ID spoofing.

Customers should also refrain from sharing personal information such as social security numbers, birth dates, bank account, and credit and debit card information.

Also, never pay a bill with a gift card or through a mobile phone app, as JEA does not accept payments via cash apps.

The legitmacy of calls or texts can be verified through one’s JEA account at jea.com account or by calling 904-665-6000 which leads customers to an automated service that allows anyone to check their balance.
