JEA is continuing to address the future energy needs of Northeast Florida.
Since the utility implemented its integrated resource plan in 2022, it’s increased its renewable energy use.

Two years ago, 2% of its energy was clean. And now, it’s up to 16 %.
That energy comes from power supplies like Plant Vogtle, for which JEA will pay $221 million a year for 20 years starting in 2025.
And it also comes from solar.

Currently, JEA has 8 solar farms, and three more are scheduled to come online in 2026 and 2028.
Once they are done, that will be enough to power 63,000 homes.
The new sites are in Baldwin and North Jacksonville and it’s a $1 billion investment.

JEA said as progress is made toward diversifying its energy sources, it will affect customer rates.
“We are looking at adjusting rates, increasing rates in the coming year and it does play a factor,” JEA spokesperson Karen Mcallister said.
JEA’s goal is to have 35% clean energy by 2030.
