A 19-year-old Jacksonville man was sentenced to 45 years in prison Friday after being found guilty of attempted second-degree murder in the shooting of another man in October 2010.

Prosecutors said Raymond Austin Jr., then 17, lured Carl Davis to a Jacksonville parking lot and then shot him in the chest.

Shanda Merritt, Austin's co-defendant, was Davis' ex-girlfriend.  She will face the attmempted murder charge in trial on August 20.

Austin will be back in court November 13 for another trial involving a 2010 kidnapping, armed robbery and first-degree murder of 83-year-old Charles Soukup.

Austin, Merritt and two co-defendants are charged with kidnapping Soukup from the Jacksonville International Airport and then killing him.  Soukup's body was found near the airport.  The car Austin used in the attempted murder of Davis was Soukup's rental vehicle, prosecutors said.

Assistant State Attorney John Guy tried the case.
