A Jacksonville man is charged with killing two others he was plotting a robbery with.
We first told you last week about two bodies found behind a warehouse on Burke Street on the Westside. The victims were 34-year-old James Battle and 23-year-old Darian Alston.
Jacksonville Police now tell us a witness saw a man- who is now identified at 33-year-old Cedric Washington- in the area of where the bodies were found setting a car on fire. Before the bodies themselves were found, Washington was actually arrested at another location with another man for an unrelated crime. He had property belonging to one of the victims on him and, at that time, he was identified as a potential suspect.
Police say Washington and the two victims knew each other, but were not necessarily friends. The three were allegedly planning a robbery when Washington began to believe the other two suspects were going to harm him. That led him to shoot and kill them. JSO says there was no evidence that there was an imminent threat on Washington’s life.
Washington has reportedly confessed.
