JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — For a team eliminated from playoff contention, looking ahead to next season, Sunday’s regular season home finale for the Jacksonville Jaguars meant a little bit more for the fans than most would think. It served as the last real look at EverBank Stadium as fans know it before construction gets underway early 2025 on the “Stadium of the Future.”

Change is good,” Jaguars super fan Carolyn told Action News Jax ahead of Sunday’s game. “I’m an upper decker up there,” added Jay Herckes. “Been there since the beginning, original season ticket holder, so it’ll be strange for sure.” With the stadium set to operate at a slightly limited capacity for the 2025-2026 season and significantly limited capacity in 2026-2027 without the upper deck available, fans like say it’ll be a weird feeling in EverBank amid the ongoing construction, with those Action News spoke to Sunday pretty split on the incoming changes over the next couple of years. “I got my season tickets in the lower bowl so I’m good to go, cheers,” Bobby Gonzalez said.

Nonetheless, fans outside EverBank Stadium Sunday morning said they’re ready for change and for the Jaguars “Stadium of the Future” in downtown Jacksonville. “I’m looking forward to it. I’m looking for a state-of-the-art stadium,” Carolyn said. “I’m looking for anything that will make Jacksonville be a center of attention and I’m just looking forward. I think it’s gonna be great.”
