Jags Fighting For More After Clinching Playoff Spot

Jacksonville, FL. — Over the past nine years, the Jacksonville Jaguars hadn’t experienced a winning season or the playoffs. The closest they had gotten was an 8-8 finish in 2010.

But with the victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday, and the assurance they will be involved in a NFL postseason football game for the first time since 2007, the team is still fighting for two very big reasons: playoff seeding and a division championship.

The Jaguars can win their first division championship in 17 seasons with a victory next Sunday when they head to San Francisco to face the 49ers, or with a Tennessee Titans loss against the L.A. Rams.

Jacksonville also finds themselves only one game from the best record in the AFC. After New England’s victory over Pittsburgh on Sunday night, both teams are now 11-3, with the Patriots holding the top spot and the Steelers in the two seed.

If Jacksonville can win out, and either New England or Pittsburgh lose once, NFL tiebreaking rules will come into play to see who will get a first round playoff bye as a top two seed.

Kickoff for the next Jags game will be at 4:05 pm on Sunday. It will air on CBS 47.
