Jacksonville FL — The 2022-2023 Jacksonville city budget is set to be unveiled Thursday morning at city hall downtown. On Wednesday, Mayor Lenny Curry offered a preview of what you can expect to see in the budget at 9 AM. He says due to the city’s strong financial position while people are dealing with high inflation, the budget includes the first property tax rate cut since 2007. Curry says since 2015 when he took over as mayor, the city’s debt has been reduced by over $560 million and the city’s reserves have gone from around $130 million to over $347 million.
Other highlights from this budget preview include $100 million for downtown revitalization projects and $108 million for parks and included in that would be the replacement of 60 playgrounds.
The Jacksonville City Council will have the final say over the budget which will need to be approved by October 1st.
2.Since July 2015, we have reduced debt by over $560 million dollars. We have increased city reserves from less than $130 million dollars to over $347 million dollars. Because of pension reform, over $834 million dollars have been put to work for Jax families vs. pension costs.

4. My commitment to public safety has never wavered. Make no mistake, the ability to have cops on the street is the most effective tool for our neighborhoods to be safe. That is why I added 224 new positions with the Jax Sheriff's office since 2015.
