Jacksonville police: Man shot multiple times as group gathered in Grand Park

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was alerted to gunfire at the intersection of Mecca and W 23rd streets Tuesday evening and arrived to find multiple shell casings. Officers were dispatched to the location at about 6 p.m. and a short time later, they learned a victim arrived at an area hospital suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, a JSO news release states.

“The initial investigation revealed a group of individuals were hanging out at the intersection when gunfire erupted, and the victim was shot multiple times,” the news release states. “The victim is an adult male in his late twenties and is currently in non-life-threatening condition.”
