Jacksonville mayor to help feed homebound senior citizens on Monday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan is helping local senior citizens on Monday morning.

She’s going to deliver holiday meals to homebound senior citizens with Aging True, a non-profit that delivers daily meals to 20 local senior centers.

According to a news release, taking care of feeding elderly, food-insecure residents was one of the priorities identified by the health committee of Mayor Deegan’s transition team.

Since the Deegan administration has allocated $2 million worth of additional funding to the Senior Food Insecurity Program, a survey of participants found that 92% reported that their nutritional needs have improved. according to the news release.

Deegan will be at the Mary L. Singleton Senior Center at 11 a.m. to help.
