Jacksonville mayor appoints Jordan Elsbury as chief of staff for the city

Jacksonville mayor appoints Jordan Elsbury as chief of staff for the city (City of Jacksonville)

Jacksonville, FL — Elsbury, who has been serving as the director of intergovernmental affairs, will work with Brian Hughes, the city’s Chief Administrative Officer. Prior to Elsbury’s appointment, Hughes had been doing both jobs for the city for more than a year.

“Chief of Staff is an integral part of my administration,” Curry said in a news release. “Jordan has proven his knowledge, leadership and experience in meeting the needs of Jacksonville citizens while advocating mayoral legislative priorities at the local, state and federal level. He has also helped build and support invaluable and crucial relationships with government officials and community leaders.”

Last week, Curry cited Elsbury and Hughes as leading the charge to help Jacksonville become the new host city for the 2020 Republican National Convention.

“The herculean task of securing the 2020 Convention was led by two senior members of my administration, Jordan Elsbury and Brian Hughes. Together on my behalf, they worked with Visit Jacksonville’s Michael Corrigan to secure over 10,000 hotel rooms, coordinated with private entities and the City’s facility Manager, ASM Global, to secure host venues. All of these combined are anticipated to bring an economic impact of more than $100 million to our City. We will continue to collaborate with local, state, and federal law enforcement to insure we host a safe and secure event,” Curry said in a release last week.

With Elsbury being named Chief of Staff, Leeann Krieg, who has served as the city’s Deputy Director of Intergovernmental Affairs will now be the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs.
