Jacksonville, FL — There was no curfew, and by all accounts, no problems across Jacksonville Monday night following the weekend of tense standoffs downtown and Saturday's property damage.
In all, 79 people were arrested for various charges according to the State Attorney's Office. The Jacksonville Community Action Committee has raised just under $60,000 to cover bail and other expenses.
Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry says he very much appreciates the cooperation of the people of our city.
“We need to step back and recognize there is a large group of peaceful protesters that have experienced oppression, that have lived it, and they need to be heard and we need to work with them“, Curry said in a live interview on Jacksonville’s Morning News Tuesday.
Curry said he is committed to whatever steps are necessary to keep demonstrations peaceful, but does not wish to implement further curfews.
