Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp officially move up to Triple-A baseball

Jacksonville FL — Friday, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp announced they’ve officially accepted the invitation to become the Miami Marlins Triple-A affiliate beginning with the 2021 season. The team says it’s a 10-year agreement between the two sides and it’s the first time since 1968 that Jacksonville will have a Triple-A baseball team.

Jumbo Shrimp owner & CEO Ken Babby says this is a huge announcement for the team.

“As we enter this new era of Minor League Baseball, the familiarity of continuing our long-standing partnership with the Miami Marlins, whose players, coaches and staff have long embraced the city of Jacksonville and Northeast Florida, is so exciting. We look forward to growing that relationship as the Marlins’ Triple-A affiliate for many years to come.” Babby says.

We reported back in early December when the team was initially invited to become the Triple-A affiliate.

We’re told the 2021 Triple-A schedule will be released soon.
