Jacksonville International Airport Concourse B project ‘suspended until further notice’

Jacksonville, FL — Plans to start construction on a new Concourse B this fall at Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) have been “suspended until further notice,” according to a JIA spokesperson.

A designer and a contractor were both in place for the project.

More than 90% of the airport’s revenue has dried up, the spokesperson said.

If this continues into July, the airport “will have serious issues,” the spokesperson said.

JAX airport is supposed to get up to $28 million from CARES Act.

Revenues before the coronavirus were more than $8 million a month, while April revenues will probably be less than $1 million.

Passenger traffic was 10,000 a day outbound; last week it was 400.
