Jacksonville-area comic book stores urging others to watch out for thieves

Jacksonville, FL — Local comic book stores are warning others about two men stealing from their stores.

Store owner Kathy Dellaire with Mythical Mountain in the Mandarin area tells WOKV two men walked into their store on Wednesday. One started a conversation with her husband while the other man looked around the store.

"Wednesday is new comic book day, so it is a busy day for all the local comic shops."

Dellaire says it seems like the two men knew what they were doing, as she says they were able to distract while other swiped. They pulled the surveillance video from the store and noticed the younger man using his black hoodie as a bag. Dellaire says the two men stole several hundred dollars worth of merchandise and comics.

The two are also accused of hitting Gotham City Limit on Southside Boulevard. According to its social media page, the two men stole $200 dollars of comics and books. Dellaire tells WOKV she reached out to Altered Egos Comics & Games in Orange Park after reviewing the surveillance video and the two men were inside the store at the time.

Altered Egos Comics & Games says the two men left after getting confronted and hit a parked car while trying to get away.

The comic book shops are asking anyone with information to contact police.
