JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — I-295 at Old St. Augustine Road was closed and backed up for hours after a crash Sunday afternoon that killed two people on motorcycles, according to law enforcement.

The report from the Florida Highway Patrol says two separate motorcyclists, a 41-year-old and 32-year-old man from Jacksonville, were traveling southbound on I-295 around 1 p.m. when it happened.

Officials say the two were both riding in the left center lane when they side-swiped each other, causing them to lose control of their bikes.
