Jacksonville, FL — There will never be another Hurricane Irma. Or Harvey, Maria, or Nate.
The National Hurricane Center has retired four names from the 2017 hurricane list, which is tied for the second most in a single season.
In total, 86 names have been retired since the protocol was officially started in 1954.
Hurricane Irma brought flooding rain and storm surge to NE Florida on September 11, 2017.
In 2023 the retired names will be replaced by Harold, Idalia, Margot, and Nigel.
