How to support the Clay County deputy critically injured in a crash

Clay County deputy Ben Zirbel is still in critical condition following a serious crash Sunday, the sheriff's office said Monday morning.

There are now two ways to donate to Clay County Deputy Ben Zirbel, who remains in critical condition, after a crash while on motorcycle patrol.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a VyStar account has been created, with the account number 7507565803. You can donate at any VyStar branch. As of Tuesday morning, VyStar told us $340 had been donated.

CCSO says the family has also approved a GoFundMe account. The goal on that page is $50,000, with $1,720 raised as of Tuesday morning.

Donations to these funds are going toward Zirbel’s family.

Zirbel, a 12-year veteran of the force, was on his agency issued motorcycle this weekend, when he was involved in a crash. The Florida Highway Patrol says a truck drove in to the path of Zirbel, at Blanding Blvd and Camp Francis Johnson Road. The driver has been cooperating with the investigation.

CCSO is thanking the community for their prayers and support.
