Jacksonville, FL — A Holiday Hill Elementary School student was detained, after allegedly bringing a knife to their classroom.
The school's principal left a voice message with parents, saying the student in possession of the knife was also making verbal threats about causing harm to others.
Thankfully, the principal says the incident was safely resolved, with no injuries to anyone.
We're told this incident has now been referred to law enforcement for further investigation and that the code of student conduct will be enforced.

Good Afternoon parents and guardians of Holiday Hill Elementary,
This is Principal Peterson. We believe in open and honest communication with our school community and wanted to notify you of an incident involving a student bringing a prohibited item on campus. The incident was safely resolved and students and staff were safe, but we feel it’s important to keep you informed in on any matter involving a safety concern.
This morning, a student in a classroom was in possession of a knife and was making verbal threats about causing harm to others. With the assistance of law enforcement, the student was detained, and the knife was confiscated. This matter has been referred to law enforcement for further investigation and the code of student conduct will be enforced appropriately. Thankfully, students and staff remained safe during this incident.
We know that this was a concerning situation for our staff and students, and we greatly appreciate the quick efforts of law enforcement to resolve it safely. Please also know that at this time, we are aware of reports that some staff may not have followed proper notification procedures in this matter. We are investigating these reports and will take appropriate action as necessary.
