UF Health Jacksonville prepared for wave of coronavirus patients, peak in May

UF Health Jacksonville on alert for two month surge

Jacksonville, FL — UF Health Jacksonville is anticipating a wave of coronavirus patients will arrive in NE Florida, peaking in May.  Dr. David Caro with the UF Health Jacksonville Department of Emergency Medicine and Disaster Medical Director, told Jacksonville’s Morning News that we are currently in the calm before the storm.

“We’re taking all precautions to try and make sure that we’ve got the best care that we can give”, said Dr. Caro.

But he said despite the best care possible, there will be a growing death toll locally with this pandemic. Caro said UF Health is stockpiling personal protective equipment (PPE’s) and they’re conserving everything that is currently on hand.

“It comes down to our supply chain and what we can bring in”, Caro said, as they consistently take inventory of all supplies.
