JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis held a press conference in Tallahassee at 9 a.m. on Friday to give an update on COVID-19 vaccines.

DeSantis was joined by Division of Emergency Management Director Jared Moskowitz.

He announced that starting on Monday, anyone 50 and up can get the vaccine. This past Monday, the age eligibility for the vaccines was lowered by the state and anyone 60 and up can get the vaccine.

DeSantis also reiterated that before May 1, he believes all adults will be eligible to the vaccine.

“Our next move will most likely be to just say that anyone who qualifies under the EUA (Emergency Use Authorization). So 16 or 18 and up, depending on the shot, we can probably just open up to everybody,” DeSantis said.

The state is also getting another 42,000 doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine next week. However the date for the next shipment after that is unknown.
