FWC officers, Florida-based Coast Guard crews assisting in aftermath of Harvey in Texas

Jacksonville, FL — In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, a number of Florida agencies are offering their support and resources to the state of Texas.

That includes the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

25 FWC officers, 17 high-water vehicles, two Mobile Command Centers, 8 shallow draft vessels, and 4 patrol boats have already been deployed to Houston over the weekend; now, Governor Rick Scott is announcing more deployments.

Currently, 37 FWC officers and 21 boats are in route to Houston to support ongoing response efforts. More than 60 officers and nearly 21 boats are being staged and will deploy today.

We're also seeing a show of support from the US Coast Guard in the 7th district.

According to the agency, Miami-based Coast Guard crews have been deployed to impacted area in Texas to help with search and rescue efforts.
