Former Jax councilman Jay Jabour dies

Former Jacksonville City Councilman Jay Jabour has died after short battle with cancer.

Jabour died last night, a week before he would have turned 54 year-old.

A family spokesman says Jabour was recently diagnosed with cancer.

State Representative Daniel Davis served with Jabour, recalling his commitment to the community.

"He's always been a successful businessman and he was working very hard to support his family and make the economy move forward in northeast Florida".

Funeral arrangements will be announced later today.
Jabour served on the city council from 2007 until his resignation in early 2008 after a judge ruled he didn't meet residency requirements.
