Jacksonville FL — Tuesday night, former Atlantic Beach Police Chief Michelle Cook won the Clay County Sheriff primary over a crowded field of candidates, including suspended Sheriff Darryl Daniels. In this race there is a write-in candidate as of now, so Cook will move forward in the general election in November.
Cook says the thing that’s needed most for the sheriff’s office is integrity and reminding the men and women of the agency that they are doing a great job.
“We never stopped, we never let up and I think that, that was very telling with today’s results.” Cook says.
In the race for Clay County Schools Superintendent, Interim Superintendent David Broskie won against former superintendent Charlie Van Zant and Ann Wiggins. Broskie says he considers this a win for students and teachers in the county.
“My routine is not going to change one bit. I’m getting up, I’m getting my lunch box together and going to work. The opening of schools is my number one priority, to provide a safe environment for students and also do the very best that we can for families.” Broskie says.
The superintendent’s race will go ahead to the general election as well as of now since there is a write-in candidate.
