Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown says he supports a homeless resource center, but not in the former Armory building on North Market Street.
Brown stopped at the Springfield Preservation and Revitalization Council meeting Thursday night to talk about the program and tell area residents he had made no recommendation at all on the center’s location.
The six-month pilot project includes opening a resource center for area homeless three days a week from 8 AM to 5 PM. The center would include essential services, but no beds.
A statement from the city says staff is continuing to work on finding the ideal location, and is still open to suggestions.
